Packers take Justin Harrell with 1st Pick

April 28, 2007 By WRN Contributor

NFL Commisioner Roger Goodell: "With the 16th selection in the the 2007 NFL Draft the Green Bay Packers select Justin Harrell, defensive tackle Tennessee."

Members of the Packers Media in the auditorium: "GASP??!"

Packer fans watching the draft at Lambeau Field Atrium: "GASP?…followed by many boos.  It's not a popular pick in Titletown.

Just one mock draft had Justin Harrell going to the Packers.  Peter Prisco of cbssportsline.com stands alone as having the Packers pick right.  Harrell stands 6'4, and weighs 300 pounds.  Harrell tore and ruptured his left biceps in the Vols 2nd game.  He played in one more game and was out for the year.  In a strange comparision the scouting report compared him to current Packer Johnny Jolly????????

We'll post Ted Thompson explanation to the pick when it's available.

–Wade Bates reporting from Packers Draft Headquarters in Green Bay.
