Talbot wins Sea Ray Heptathlon

University of Wisconsin women's senior, Melissa Talbot, captured the heptathlon at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The Freedom, Wisconsin native scored a UW record and NCAA automatic qualifying total of 5,570 points.  Talbot's point total ranks her seventh nationally and second among Big Ten Conference performers this season.

Talbot started the day by placing fourth in the heptathlon long jump at 18 feet, 6 inches.  She had her best finish of the day in the javelin, coming in second at 118-2.  Talbot finished out the day with a third-place finish in the heptathlon 800 meters in 2 minutes, 27.63 seconds.
