Thompson comments on Harrell

April 28, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Packers GM Ted Thompson was boo'd loudly when he took the podium in front of Packer fans to explain the pick of Tennessee defensive tackle Justin Harrell.  Thompson said that showed how passionate the Packer fans are about their team. Thompson wasn't boo'd by the media covering the draft, but was asked to explain the pick.  Thompson said that Harrell really got on their radar a few weeks ago and was very impressive at workouts. He says he was not concerned about Harrell's spotty medical history and the doctors say he is completely healed from last year's ruptured biceps injury that cost him all but three games.  The Green Bay GM says that Harrell would have been a top 10 pick of he hadn't been hurt and he was the best player on the board at #16.  Thompson says that he made a few calls to trade up but nobody was willing to deal and he also fielded calls on trading down but nothing was obviously done.
