Gas pains

May 2, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Gas prices are now at $3.00 a gallon at stations around the state, and a spokeswoman for Triple-A Wisconsin says refineries are the culprit for the recent price hike. Pam Moen says when refineries started converting their operations this spring, to produce summer fuel blends, some of them had to shut down because of maintenance problems. Moen says as the Memorial Day weekend draws closer, it's really important that the refineries get back on line, so supplies increase before the summer driving season begins.
