July trial date set for accused Weston High School shooter

May 3, 2007 By WRN Contributor

A Sauk County teenager accused of murdering his principal will go on trial this summer. A seven day jury trial has been planned for late July for 16-year-old Eric Hainstock of rural LaValle. The teen is accused of entering the Weston High School in September of 2006 and fatally shooting Principal John Klang. He faces a charge of first degree intentional homicide. Hainstock pleaded not guilty to the charge in court last week. The jury trial is currently scheduled to begin on July 26th and will run through August 3rd.

Hainstock is also expected to appear for a motion hearing next Thursday in Sauk County court, on a motion to suppress a video taped confession that was recorded shortly after the shooting.
