Wisconsin's Lt. Governor is paying a visit to Central America. Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton is on a four-day trip to Nicaragua, as part of an effort to strengthen Wisconsin's ties with that nation. She says the trip is part of the ongoing development of a partnership between Wisconsin and the nation.
The Lt. Governor is traveling with leadership from the Wisconsin National Guard, as they meet with officials to talk about political and military stability. Lawton is also meeting with Nicaragua's emergency management agencies to discuss policies for responding to disasters.
Lawton says the trip is part of an ongoing cultural exchange, which has taken place over the past several years. Wisconsin has also hosted delegations from Nicaragua since 2003.
