One arrest in Rock Co. drug bust

May 23, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Two SWAT teams and police from local and federal agencies executed a search warrant on a Town of Beloit property early Wednesday morning. Fifty year old Scott Jones was arrested for possession of marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms, and being a felon in possession of a weapon. Rock County Sheriff Bob Spoden says Jones is accused of possessing a nine millimeter handgun and over two pounds of marijuana and mushrooms. Jones is being held at the Rock County jail pending his initial court appearance. Sheriff's Department Commander Troy Knutson says when Jones was arrested 12 years ago on weapons and drug violations, he was in possession of an assault rifle and an anti-tank weapon, which is why they used overwhelming force Wednesday. Knutson says there were three other people in the house at the time Jones was arrested but they were not charged.
