Pointers win NCAA opener

May 17, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Top-seeded UW-Stevens Point took advantage of six St. Scholastica errors and cruised to an 11-3 win in the opening round of the NCAA Division 3 baseball regionals.

Pointers ace Jordan Zimmerman allowed 5-hits in eight innings and struck out 11.  He also broke a 3-3 tie with a solo homer in the 7th that led to a 6-run Pointers rally.

The Pointers play in the winners bracket today.
