A thirteen year old Beaver Dam middle schooler is the third Wisconsin athlete to die this spring while participating in track.
Dave Anderson is deputy director for the WIAA, the organization that oversees athletics in the state's middle and high schools.
Anderson says, so far, no common thread has been found in the three deaths. All three came from different athletic backgrounds. But they did submit the required medical clearance forms signed by a doctor and parents.
Anderson says , of course, the tragic events raise questions that will be part of an annual review but for now it's too early for an immediate change in policy.
Anderson says the WIAA will continue to review policies and procedures to see if changes are needed to ensure the safety of students participating in all school sports.
