Bauer & Tucker named Badgers' Athletes of the Year

June 20, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Sara Bauer, a member of the Wisconsin women's hockey team, and men's basketball standout Alando Tucker have been named the University of Wisconsin Athletes of the Year.

The honor is the second in as many years for Bauer, who was a top three finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award (National Player of the Year) which she won in 2006.  She was selected as the Frozen Four Most Outstanding Player after leading the Badgers to their second straight national title.

Bauer is one of only seven players in NCAA history to surpass 200 career points and holds 17 Wisconsin records including career points, assists and career game winning goals.

Tucker, a finalist for ever national player of the year award, is one of the most decorated UW men's basketball players in school history.

The fifth-year senior set a number of career records at Wisconsin and he surpassed Michael Finley to become the school's all-time leading scorer, finishing his career with 2,217 points, 9th best in Big Ten history.
