Ben Sheets reached1000 strikeouts and Chris Capuano heads to the DL

June 15, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Sheets not only got the win in Thursday's 6-5 victory over Detroit; the Brewers starter also reached the 1,000-strikeout plateau.  Sheets had 7 strikeouts in the day.

Also on Thursday, Chris Capuano was placed on the 15 disabled list after straining his groin in pre-game warm ups Wednesday.  To fill his spot the Brewers called up top pitching prospect Yovani Gallardo.

At Triple-A Nashville, Gallardo was 8-3 with a 2.90 ERA.  Gallardo lead the minor leagues with 110 strikeouts.  He is slated to make his Major League Debut Monday when the Giants come to Miller Park.

The Brewers head to Minnesota tonight to open up a three game set with the Twins.
