Classmates honor Wisconsin's top speller

June 4, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Madison's Isabel Jacobson is a top notch speller, but she remains humble about placing third last week in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. The 8th grader returned to school Monday at O'Keefe Middle School in Madison.

Jacobson thanked her by classmates for all their support through the competition. They honored her with a special “number one speller” bracelet and one student even wrote a song to recognize her accomplishments.

This was the second year Jacobson competed in the national bee. She placed 14th in 2006.
