A new Government Accountability Board is nearing completion, after the state Senate this week approved three retired judges to sit on the panel. Senate President Fred Risser (D-Madison) hopes it results in a "cleaner" state government, which has been rocked by scandal in recent years.
Risser admits that there's no guarantee the new system will work, but believes this is the best chance the state has to succeed at cleaning up government.
The Assembly is expected to approve the remaining members of the board in the coming weeks.
