Cordero slams the door on the Cubs

June 6, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Francisco Cordero remained perfect out of the  Milwaukee Brewers bullpen.  The Brewers ace reliever got the last four outs last night, helping the Brewers hold on for a 7-5 win over the Chicago Cubs at Miller Park.

Cordero notched his 22nd save in 22 chances and lowered his ERA to 0.37.  Offensively, the Brewers pounded out 10 hits and clubbed three home runs.  Corey Hart, Tony Graffanino and Ryan Braun all went deep for the Brewers.

Right-hander Claudio Vargas (4-1) went 5 1/3 innings, allowed 7 hits and three runs to pick up the win.  It's his first win since May 4th, a span covering six starts.

The Brewers bullpen made things interesting late, but Cordero closed out the win for the Brewers.  The final game of the series is this afternoon at Miller Park.
