Need something to do this summer?

June 2, 2007 By WRN Contributor

You can still Adopt-a-Highway. If you hurry there are about two thousand of highway miles left up for adoption.

Barbara Mindak is the DOT Supervisor for the Adopt-a-Highway program. She says every spring they update their highway clean-up files weeding out groups that aren't cleaning up highways anymore or the contact has moved away.

Most of the clean-up details come from service groups and even senior citizens who say it's good exercise and gets them out of the house.

Fortunately, Mindak says, once the word gets out. there are plenty of volunteers for the litter detail. They usually don't have to beg for people to keep Wisconsin roads clean.

So this is a story to get the word out. Two thousand miles of state roadways need your help.
