State Dems upbeat for convention

June 29, 2007 By WRN Contributor

State democrats gather in Milwaukee this weekend for their annual convention and they're in a good mood.

Joe Wineke, chair of the state Democratic Party says the convention is part celebration for the election victories in '06 but now they want to give those victories some meaning.

Wineke says the convention will be about speaking on behalf of the state's middle class families. As he puts, republicans are just working for the rich.

Wineke says the universal health care plan will actually cut costs for the average resident. He says let the republicans hammer away at taxes, democrats will keep working on quality of life issues which he says means more to more people.

And based on that, Wineke says put your money on democrats doing well in the 2008.
