Taxpayers group questions Dems' health plan

June 25, 2007 By WRN Contributor

The Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance says there are some big issues to deal with in the democrats' universal health care proposal.

Alliance President Todd Berry says the democratic health care plan would be the biggest change in public policy in the state's history. Doubling the state's overall tax take and making Wisconsin the highest taxed state in the nation by far.

Berry says trying to get it through at the 11th hour is a mistake. He says announcing it one day, holding one public hearing an hour later and then probably voting it into the budget the next day is not the way to make huge decisions such as this one.

Berry also questions whether it would actually cut costs because when someone gets something for nearly free there's no incentive to use it wisely.
