June 25, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Wisconsin hockey history was made Friday night when incoming freshmen forward Kyle Turris, defenseman Ryan McDonagh and defenseman Brendan Smith were chose in the first round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.  The three picks make the Badgers just the third college hockey school to have three first-round draft picks in the same draft.  Turris, McDonagh and Smith become the seventh, eighth and ninth Badgers chosen in the first round of the NHL draft.

Turris was selected third overall by the Phoenix Coyotes.  McDonagh was taken 12th by the Montreal Canadians, while Smith went 27th overall by the Detroit Red Wings.
