Health care services for women could see dramatic cuts, under a budget passed by Assembly Republicans this week.
Senate Majority Leader Judy Robson (D-Beloit) says the budget would be devastating to reproductive health care. The most significant issue is a clause that makes it hard for clinics that offering counseling on abortion to receive state aid. Robson says that could result in at least 50 private family planning facilities losing their funding.
The Beloit Democrat says there are concerns about safety as well, with cuts to screening for cervical and breast cancer in rural communities.
Robson says health care will be a priority when the budget goes to conference committee.
