Brewers Fall in 12

July 24, 2007 By WRN Contributor

It was a good old fashion pitchers dual on Monday as the Reds beat the Brewers 2-1 in 12 innings on Javier Valentin's pinch hit single off of Grant Balfour.  Starters Chris Capuano and Grant Balfour were brilliant on the night, each giving up just one solo shot.  Cappy's mistake was a David Ross homer in the 3rd in 8 innings worth of work.  Harang went 10 innings and gave up just a 4th in blast to Ryan Braun.  His 17th of the season.  Milwaukee wasted a bases loaded, no-outs chance in the 11th and then lost it in the 12th.  Their lead in the N.L. Central is now just 3 games over the Cubs.  The series continues tonight in Cincinnati.
