July 2, 2007 By WRN Contributor

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired LHP Chris Cody from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for RHP Jose Capellan.

The 23 year old Cody has spent most of the season at Class-A West Michigan, where he went 5-5 with a 1.77 ERA in 14 starts.  He was named to the Midwest League All-Star team as he ranked among league leaders in ERA (2nd 1.77), strikeouts (2nd, 92) and innings pitched (91.1).  He held his opponents to a .215 batting average while pitching for West Michigan.

Selected by the Tigers in the eighth round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft, Cody owns a career record of 9-7 with a 2.06 ERA in 26 starts.

Capellan was 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA in 7 relief appearances for the Brewers this season.
