First round complete at U.S. Senior Open

The first round of the U.S. Senior Open was completed at 9:40 a.m. after re-starting at 7 a.m.  The second round started at 8 a.m.

Top scores of those players finishing their opening round this morning, a 5-under par 67 for Jim Woodward, 4-under par 68's by Bruce Vaughan and Lonnie Nielsen, and a 3-under-par 69 by Gil Morgan.

Entering round 2, Eduardo Romero of Argentina is the leader at 6-under par 66.  Jim Woodward is 1-shot back at 5-under 67 and Lonnie Nielsen and Bruce Vaughan are both at 4-under par 68.

With round two already underway, Tom Watson already has his first nine holes in the books.  He started on the back nine and shot a 33 to go to 5-under par for the Tournament and 3-under on the day.  He shot a 2-under par 70 in round 1.  That means Watson has climbed to within 1-shot of the lead heading to the second half of his round today.
