Holiday travelers kept under a close watch

July 6, 2007 By WRN Contributor

A lot of motorists are expected on the highways this weekend, and they'll be under watchful eyes.

The State Patrol has launched a campaign called "Drunk driving…over the limit, under arrest." Sergeant Paul Wolfe says Sheriffs' Departments and other agencies are involved in the effort. He says those watchful eyes make a difference.

Drivers can expect to be watched from the roads, as well as above them. Wolfe says the State Patrol may use aircraft this weekend to watch traffic and to spot any impaired drivers.

Traffic is expected to be heavier this weekend than usual, with many people returning from extended Fourth of July holidays.
