Is this your lucky day?

July 7, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Feeling lucky? Today's date of 7-7-07 doesn't necessarily improve your odds at gambling. However, several casinos and even the state lottery are hoping today will bring in extra revenue from the superstitious.

Rose Gruber with the Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling warns against getting carried away though, since some people may be tempted to spend more than they can afford to lose under the assumption that the odds are in their favor.

The numerological occurrence of triple sevens could also pose a problem for compulsive gamblers, who may focus too much on thinking the odds are in their favor. Gruber says it could push a person in recovery back to gambling.

Even if you decide to gamble for fun, Gruber says you should remember to just walk away when you lose a set amount or you stop having a good time.
