A state lawmaker wants to try a unique approach to fight the tobacco industry.
State Representative Marlin Schneider (D-Wisconsin Rapids) is introducing a bill that would prohibit the sale of cigarettes in Wisconsin that contain nicotine. He says banning the addictive agent would be a major change in the war against smoking.
Schneider says if the bill is approved, it could be a model for the nation. He is expecting intense opposition to the proposal from the tobacco industry.
