No Clay in Badger backfield this season

July 10, 2007 By WRN Contributor

According to several reports, University of Wisconsin football fans hoping to see tailback John Clay in the Badger backfield this season, will have to wait until 2008.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the former all-state performer from Racine Park High School, has failed to meet the NCAA's minimum academic eligibility standards and won't be allowed to play this season.

Without Clay, the Badgers would have just three scholarship tailbacks on the roster when pre-season camp opens next month.
