Packers lose Morency for a couple of weeks

July 31, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Having already lost reserve tightend Tory Humphrey for considerable time and maybe the season, the Green Bay Packers learned that their top running back, Vernand Morency, will miss a couple more weeks after injuring his knee on Saturday.

Packers officials didn't originally believe the injury was very serious, but coach Mike McCarthy said team doctors say the injury is more serious than originally stated.

Morency's being sidelined does give the Packers more opportunities to get a look at some of their other young running backs in training camp, including second round pick Brandon Jackson from Nebraska.
