Practice starts today for US Senior Open

July 2, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Tom Watson Practice begins today for the 2007 U.S. Men's Senior Open at Whistling Straits in Haven, near Sheboygan.

Around 150,000 fans are expected to be on hand for the weeklong event with first round action scheduled to start on Thursday.

It's the second major championship at Whistling Straits and the third in Sheboygan County since 1998 when the U.S. Women's Open came to Blackwolf Run.

Golfers 50 or older who have a United States Golf Association handicap index of 3.4 or lower were eligible to qualify.

A number of legendary golfers are in the field like Tom Watson (pictured), and former champions Seve Ballesteros and Mark O'Meara.  Allan Doyle is the two-time defending champion.
