Republicans may force Iraq change

July 3, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Senator Kohl says he'll support Russ Feingold's resolution to bring troops home by next March when it's re-introduced this month but the senior senator thinks republicans looking ahead to 2008 will be more outspoken against the war. He says if necessary, they will be the ones to tell the president directly that Iraq policy has to change.

As for issuing subpoenas for the White House to get information on the firing of US Attorneys. Kohl says Congress is just doing its constitutional job. He's not sure if it will lead to constitutional showdown but he's glad to see Congress taking on its oversight responsibilities.

Senator Kohl says when Congress reconvenes they'll be working on a Farm Bill that will impact Wisconsin farmers and he'll introduce legislation to make drug companies disclose what perks they give doctors to push their product.
