The University of Wisconsin has suspended running back Lance Smith after his arrest over the weekend in Madison. Smith was arrested after an altercation with his girlfriend. He can't take part in any team practices or competition while suspended by for violating the school's disciplinary code. Smith is expected to be PJ Hill's main backup at tailback in 2007.
