Weekend prescription: chill out

July 7, 2007 By WRN Contributor

It's hot, so hunker down this weekend. You've got permission not to do yardwork, as temperatures climb into the 90s across Wisconsin, with correspondingly high humidities. Doctor Henry Anderson, chief medical officer with the state Division of Public Health , advises sitting it out this weekend, in a cool place, particularly if you are elderly. A-C is key: Anderson says fans are really ineffective in cooling the air, once the temperature gets above ninety degrees. And mowing the lawn? Really not a great idea. Anderson says you're better off waiting 'til it cools off, which should happen sometime next week. And, make sure your household's pets have what they need to keep cool, too.
