With EEA underway, motorists need to be extra alert

July 23, 2007 By WRN Contributor

AirVenture 2007 is about more than just airplanes, there will be a lot of traffic accumulating on the roads in east-central Wisconsin.

The world's greatest aviation celebration gets underway in Oshkosh. David Greene, Director of Aeronautics for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation , says you need to be particularly aware of the increased amount of traffic, and watch out for inattentive drivers who might be looking to the sky rather than the road, especially with the 60th anniversary of the US Air Force.

Greene says the State Patrol will be doing the best they can to safely and efficiently guide traffic along. The 55th annual Experimental Aircraft Association is expected to attract about 10,000 aircraft and over 600,000 visitors from 65 nations. Greene says you can help to prevent stressful situations by anticipating slower, dense traffic around the Fox Valley area, mostly on highways 41 and 45.

Also, make sure your vehicle is fueled up, use the restroom before leaving and have plenty of snacks available.
