Carimi wins battle at Left Tackle for Badgers

August 22, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Wisconsin redshirt freshman Gabe Carimi has won the battle for the starting left tackle job with the Wisconsin Badgers , beating out Danny Kaye and Jake Bscherer.

Jake Bscherer moved back to left tackle and will back up Carimi, while Kaye moves to backup center.

Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema said, "I think he came in with an attitude to take it.  I think all of them did but he is the one that proved it time and time again and really got better as camp came along."

The Badgers are expected to name their starting quarterback today.  They'll open the season Sept. 1 against Washington State at Camp Randall.
