Governor appoints new Adjutant General

August 1, 2007 By WRN Contributor

The Governor on Tuesday announced that Colonel Don Dunbar will take over as the new leader of the Wisconsin National Guard. Lt. Colonel Tim Donovan says Dunbar has a long history of service, having served as the commander of the 128th air refueling wing in Milwaukee for several years. He also was a bomber pilot and served on the Air National Guard staff in Washington.

Donovan says Dunbar also has insight into the lives of National Guard troops currently deployed in Iraq, having served overseas in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Dunbar replaces Major General Al Wilkening, who is ending a five year term as Adjutant General.

Dunbar will be sworn in on Friday.
