Gas prices are under three dollars a gallon but not as many people will be traveling this Labor Day Weekend
According to Triple A's latest survey about the same number of people will take off this year nationwide. Only five-million people in the Midwest states will hit the road this holiday weekend. Triple A Wisconsin's Pam Moen says that's a decrease from last year.
Moen says there are a number of reasons. People stay closer to home getting ready for school. Flooding and bad weather have plagued much of the Midwest and the economy is playing role this year.
Moen says families responding to the survey say they're starting to feel a financial pinch and are watching how they spend their money more closely.
Even so, with 11 % of the nation's population still taking a Labor Day trip, it could get crowded out there this weekend.
