Favre and Packers offense have defense and special teams to thank

September 10, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre failed to throw a touchdown pass in a season opener for a third straight season, but this time the Packers won, inspite of the dismal offensive showing.

Mason Crosby booted three field goals, included the 42 year old game winner with two seconds left to win it for the Packers.

Brett Favre finished with 206 yards through the air, completing 23 of 42 with an interception.  And the running game was even worse.  The Packers rushed it 17 times for a grand total of 46 yards.  The offensive line failed to not only open holes for the run game, but allowed Brett Favre to get sacked 4 times and knocked down several more times.

This day belonged to the defense and special teams.  The only Packers touchdown of the game was scored when Tracy White fell on a muffed punt in the endzone for a touchdown.

The Packers beat the Eagles for the first time since 2000, ending a 5-game losing streak.
