Fundraising ban proposed for budget negotiators

A Milwaukee lawmaker wants a ban on campaign contributions to budget writers. State Representative Sheldon Wasserman says members of the Joint Committee on Finance and the budget Conference Committee should not be getting any campaign cash, while they're at work on the budget. Wasserman says this would be a start to restoring public confidence. Wasserman says the conference committee process is all about the 2008 elections, as Democrats and Republicans look for each others weaknesses, something he says does not serve the interests of state residents.
