Kewaunee wins its appeal with WIAA

September 14, 2007 By WRN Contributor

The Kewaunee Indians won their appeal with the WIAA after being ordered to forfeit their Aug. 24th 42-7 win over rival Algoma.

Kewaunee was ordered to forfeit the game because they used two players in the game that they later realized were academically ineligible.  The school argued that the two players in question didn't have a significant impact on the outcome of the game and Algoma officials wrote a letter to the WIAA in support of Kewaunee's appeal.

Kewaunee is 3-0 entering play this weekend and the two players in question are both eligible to return when the Indians face their stiffest challenge of the season, a game against the Wrightstown Tigers in Wrightstown tonight.
