Governor pleased with budget action

October 24, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Despite several months of delays, Governor Jim Doyle says the state budget approved by lawmakers on Tuesday night is a good one. The Governor says the budget protects taxpayers while also making major advances in education and health care.

Doyle appeared in Eau Claire Wednesday morning. He won't say yet what he plans to veto in the bill, but did say a proposal allowing for samples of liquor and beer in grocery stores is not "such a good idea."

The Governor is expected to act on the budget Thursday.
