The Green Bay Packers had several difficulties on Sunday’s game with Washington, yet they found a way to beat Washington 17-14 at Lambeau Field.
The Packers ran for just 56 yards, passed for only 188, and their kicker (Mason Crosby) missed a pair of field goals. Defensively, they couldn’t cover Washington tightend Chris Cooley in the first half, yet they managed to come out on top.
With the Packers trailing late in the 3rd quarter, Corey Williams stripped the ball from wide receiver Santana Moss on an end around and Charles Woodson picked it up, returning the ball 57 yards for the go-ahead touchdown.
After Washington tight end Chris Cooley caught 7 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown in the first half, he was held to 8-yards on two receptions in the second.
The Packers got plenty of help by Washington turning the ball over 3-times, by a secondary that had several chances at interceptions, only to drop the ball. Then when they needed to comeback in the fourth quarter, it was Aaron Kampman and the Packers defense that tightened their belts and didn’t allow the comeback.
The Packers win and a Dallas loss left the two teams tied with the top records in the NFC at 5-1.
The Packers win earned them an extra day off, and will now take Wednesday through Sunday off before returning to work next Monday.
