Does the IRS owe you money?

November 14, 2007 By WRN Contributor

The IRS wants to make sure Wisconsin residents get what's coming to them.

The Internal Revenue Service is out with a list of Wisconsinites whose tax returns came back as undeliverable (link to file below). Spokesman Christopher Miller says 1,164 taxpayers are on the list, with refunds totaling over $849,000.

The agency suspects most of the checks came back because of simple mistakes, such as forgetting to update a mailing address or because of a name change.

If you were owed a refund this year and didn't get it, Miller says you can check online or by calling 1-800-829-1954. You will need your Social Security Number and the exact refund amount listed on your tax return.
