Kewaunee to play without two top players in title game Thursday

November 14, 2007 By WRN Contributor

When the Kewaunee Indians take the field in the WIAA Division 5 State title game against La Crosse Aquinas on Thursday, they'll do so without two of their top players.

Kewaunee lost Junior wide receiver Jordan Ledvina in the second quarter of their semi-final win over Chetek with a broken collarbone.  After the game, the Indians found out that running back Alex Schleis suffered a broken wrist.  Both players will miss Thursday's championship game.

How much will they be missed?  That remains to be seen.  One would guess a whole bunch though.  The two players combined, accounted for 48.5 percent of the teams offense, combining for more than 26-hundred yards.

Kewaunee has been ranked #1 all season long in the state polls.  They finished runnerup in the state title game last season.
