Lawmaker wants ban on nicotine smokes

November 20, 2007 By WRN Contributor

A state lawmaker wants to ban the sale of all cigarettes containing nicotine in Wisconsin. However, the proposal isn't gaining much traction at the Capitol. State Representative Marlin Schneider (D-Wisconsin Rapids) has circulated the bill for co-sponsors, but no other lawmakers have signed on.

Schneider says he's disappointed by the lack of support but not really surprised either. He says it's one of those ideas that will require lawmakers to be educated about the viability of such a proposal for reducing smoking.
