State debt keeps climbing

November 27, 2007 By WRN Contributor

A new study reveals your share of Wisconsin's debt. Christian Schneider with the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute , a Madison based think tank, says politicians of both political parties have been complicit in charging up the state's credit card. Using data from the Census Bureau, Schneider figures that Wisconsin's $19.3 billion in outstanding debt comes to about $3500 for every man, woman and child in the state And Schneider says lawmakers aren't feeling much pressure to stop the spiraling debt, so that taxpayers can almost be assured of higher taxes in the future.
