Summit on Northwoods economy

November 13, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Leaders from across the north are in Rhinelander for the first Northwoods Economic Development Summit .

Keynote speaker Governor Jim Doyle says Wisconsin needs a growing economy in the north, without harming the great quality of life. Doyle says if an area focuses only on tourism, it is difficult to produce jobs with wages to support a family. He says the north needs a strong, mixed economy.

The summit will form workgroups to generate new ideas and talk about solutions to existing challenges. The summit continues through Wednesday morning.
