Doyle's New Year wishes

December 26, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Governor Jim Doyle hopes lawmakers can accomplish something in the new year. The year drawing to close was one marked by a long, drawn out budget battle in Madison — and little else. "A lot of time and opportunity was lost by the leguislature just not getting down to business when it was supposed to," says Doyle. "The result was that in the fall, they just didn't get a number of things done that they sould have gotten done."

Doyle remains optimistic however, that 2008 might see some renewed efforts in the legislature. Tops on the Doyle agenda for '08: requiring insurance companies to cover costs associated with treating childhood autism, and passing a statewide smoking ban.
