Great Lakes mayors challenge candidates

Mayors of Great Lakes cities issue a challenge to the presidential candidates. Racine Mayor Gary Becker chairs of the board of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative , and said they will send a questionaire to the presidential candidates to get their views on issues impacting the lakes. Becker said the mayors will press for answers after the primaries. Chicago's Richard Daley noted the eight Great Lakes states account for 25% of Electoral College votes.

The mayors concluded a two day meeting in Racine with the call on candidates to improve and protect the waters of the Great Lakes.
