Remembering Pearl Harbor

December 7, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Flags in Wisconsin are at half staff today, by the order of the Governor. Lieutenant Colonel Tim Donovan of the Wisconsin National Guard says the gesture is meant to honor those killed 66 years ago when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. However, he's also hoping Americans will remember those killed in the war on terrorism. Donovan says many people have given there lives during the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, and should be honored as well.

Assembly Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Terry Musser says the lesson learned from December 7th, 1941 is "be prepared." Musser says Pearl Harbor survivors are beginning to disappear, and he wants to make sure their stories live on so we don't end up in the same predicament again someday.

Friday is national Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
