An effort to make kids multi-lingual

January 31, 2008 By WRN Contributor

A state lawmaker wants more Wisconsin students learning foreign languages.

State Representative Gary Hebl (D-Sun Prairie) is introducing legislation to provide grants for school districts to teach world languages in grade one to six. Hebl says the bill is intended to help expose Wisconsin students to other languages at a young age.

The proposal would provide $500,000 in grants to fund world language instruction in elementary schools.
