Group seeks names of pedophile priests

January 2, 2008 By WRN Contributor

A letter to Milwaukee Archbishop Timothy Dolan requests the names of 51 priests accused of sexual abuse in the Green Bay Diocese to be made public. Dolan is in charge of the Green Bay Diocese until a new bishop is chosen. Peter Isley, Midwest Director of the Survivors Network of those abused by Priests, or SNAP , says the number comes from the Diocese of Green Bay and the Norbertine religious order. "That's the number of children of clergy that they say have sexually assaulted children in the Green Bay diocese," said Isley. "These are not allegations. These are reports that the diocese of Green Bay itself has confirmed."

Dolan is in charge of the Green Bay Diocese until a new bishop is chosen. "We're assuming he's going to be very concerned about this," says Isley. "We're hopeful that the response is going to be quick. " Meanwhile, a fraud suit has been filed in Outagamie County court against the Green Bay Diocese, after a former priest, John Feeney , was found guilty of abuse.
